For example, if you want to sail on a small sailboat around the world, you must think and act your circumnavigation into existence.  It's not rocket science.  It's easy.  Anyone can do it.

I first thought about doing a circumnavigation when I was in college after reading about teenager Robin Lee Graham's voyage around the world in his tiny yacht, Dove.  That kindled a desire that became a lifelong quest.  I thought about doing a circumnavigation for more than twenty-five years before I actually made it happen.

Why did it take so long to start the trip?

The reason it took so long was because I had to THINK and ACT my circumnavigation into existence.  I did a lot of thinking, but I didn't do much acting for quite a long time.

I had a good chance to do a circumnavigation in my Westsail 32 when I was thirty-five years old.  I got out of the Navy where I was stationed in Puerto Rico, and instead of setting sail around the world, I decided to think and act a Saudi Arabian adventure into existence.  I took a job in Riyadh at King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, and I put my circumnavigation dreams on hold.  During the next eleven years, I worked my fingers to the bone saving money, learning celestial navigation, studying charts, and reading books about sailing around the world.  That was the thinking part.

Next came the acting part. After eleven years,  I went to the Miami Boat Show and saw Privilege catamarans, and instantly I knew that I had found the boat on which I would sail around the world.  I acted and placed an order for a new Privilege 39 catamaran, and then I went back to Riyadh to work for another year to finish paying for it.

Thinking and acting now became the theme of my life.  I thought about running backstays and I had them installed on Exit Only.  I thought about spare parts and I purchased them. I thought about a watermaker and installed one.   I thought about radar, SSB radio, storm anchors, drogues and a thousand other things.  Every time I thought about what needed to be done, I took action and made it happen.  It only took six months of thinking and acting to prepare the boat for the voyage around the world.

All of that thinking was important, because when it came time to act, I knew exactly what I had to do to prepare Exit Only for the voyage.

Thinking and acting are what makes dreams come true.  You need both of them if you want to sail on the ocean of your dreams.

I'm glad that I didn't need to be a genius to know how to sail around the world,  If that was true, I never would have learned how to do  a circumnavigation.  I'm glad that I didn't need to be a nautical architect to design my own yacht.  If that was true, I would never have undertaken the voyage.  I'm glad that I didn't have to build my own sailboat.  If that was true, I would have never had all my adventures on board Exit Only.

All I had to do was to think and act my circumnavigation into existence.

It worked for me, and it will work for you.  Go ahead.  Think and act a sailing adventure into your life.

There is no limit to how good your life can become.
